Seasonal Pumpkin Seed Processing Operator

MacKellar Farms is looking for a reliable, dedicated person to join our team for the fall pumpkin seed processing season.

Position: October 5 to mid-December

Full-time, averaging approximately 40 hours per week

MacKellar Farms is a well-established, family-owned farm and food company near Alvinston, Ontario. We are the only producers of edamame and pumpkin seed in Canada. We also process seed soybeans and grow a variety of traditional field crops.

Our equipment and facilities are contemporary and well maintained, and we work in a friendly, supportive team environment.

Position Overview

This is a hands-on seasonal position working primarily in our pumpkin seed processing facility.

The role involves operating a forklift to move seed throughout the facility, operating pumpkin seed washing and processing equipment, running and monitoring our seed dryer, packaging finished product, maintaining records, and helping keep the facility clean and organized.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, takes pride in their work, pays attention to what is happening around them, and shows up each day ready to contribute to the team.

Responsibilities

- Operate a forklift to move seed and materials throughout the facility
- Operate pumpkin seed washing, drying and processing equipment




- Monitor the seed dryer and processing equipment to ensure proper operation
- Move and organize seed throughout the different stages of processing
- Package finished pumpkin seed
- Maintain accurate processing and production records
- Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas
- Help maintain a clean, safe and organized facility

Qualifications
- Valid driver's licence
- Forklift experience or experience operating similar material-handling equipment
- Comfortable working around machinery and processing equipment
- Able to perform active, hands-on work throughout the day
- Reliable and committed to consistent attendance
- Good attention to detail
- Positive attitude and easy to work with
- Willing to learn and take responsibility for doing the job properly

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Pay: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
