Personal Support Worker (PSW) – Part time / Casual

Client Location: A long-term care home in Richmond Hill (open to PSWs based elsewhere in the GTA who are willing to travel)

Compensation: $21.00–$25.00 per hour (based on experience)

Position Overview

This is a flexible, part-time/casual role supporting a client who lives in a long-term care home in Richmond Hill and speaks Teochew (preferred) or Vietnamese. The client is living with dementia. Hours will grow as the client onboards.

Shifts are typically a minimum of 3 hours to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Responsibilities

- Provide personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting) alongside the home's own staff
- Assist with safe transfers, mobility, and fall prevention
- Support the client using calm, respectful, dementia-informed communication
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Accompany the client to meals or activities within the home as needed
- Observe and report changes in the client's condition to the family and to Livia




- Complete transparent and accurate visit documentation
- Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times
- Coordinate respectfully with long-term care home staff

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

- Completion of a recognized Ontario PSW Certificate program
- Current CPR & First Aid (Level C or equivalent)
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada
- Comfortable working within a long-term care home environment
- Willing to travel to Richmond Hill for shifts
- Fluent in Teochew (preferred) or Vietnamese

Preferred Qualifications

- 1–2+ years of experience in home care, long-term care, hospital, or community settings
- Experience supporting clients with mobility challenges and cognitive impairment
- Dementia care training
- Medication assistance experience
- Comfort using gait belts and mobility aids
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
