About Us:

We are on the lookout for a passionate individual to become a valued member of our thriving Recreation Department at Kelowna General Hospital.

Your Role:

As a Recreation Therapy Assistant, you will work as a member of the interdisciplinary team to support the delivery of established Recreation Therapy programs in a client-centred environment. Under the direction of the Recreation Therapist or designated Supervisor, you will lead and facilitate a variety of individual and group leisure and recreation activities designed to support the physical, social, cognitive, emotional and spiritual well-being of residents.

Your role will include organizing and setting up activities, accompanying residents on community outings, adapting activities to meet individual needs, and encouraging meaningful participation. You will also observe and report changes in residents’ abilities, behaviours and participation, provide feedback to the Recreation Therapist and care team, and assist with special events, volunteers and students.



Activities may include arts and crafts, music, cooking, gardening, exercise, sports, social and cultural events, and other therapeutic recreation programs.

Work Schedule:

This is a permanent part time (0.70FTE) position working rotating day shifts from 09:00 to 17:00.

- Grade 12

- Completion of a recognized recreation course(s) plus two year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
