Job Summary The BC Centre for Palliative Care (BCCPC) is seeking a Research Coordinator to conduct research projects and provide support for research, evaluation and knowledge translation activities throughout the organization. As a member of the research team, the Research Coordinator will work across all stages of the research process from planning through to knowledge dissemination, ensuring high-quality data collection and analysis, and supporting a wide range of knowledge dissemination and translation activities.
The Research
Coordinator will work collaboratively with BCCPC staff, external researchers, and community and health system partners to plan and deliver research that advances BCCPC’s strategic plan.
This position is well suited to an individual who is organized, collaborative, and seeking an opportunity to apply their research skills and experience to improve care and support for people living with serious illness and those who care for them. The Research Coordinator must be comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities, while maintaining attention to detail and commitment to high-quality research.
Responsibilities
Research planning and ethics
- Conduct literature reviews, including literature searching and retrieval, screening, and synthesis.
- Support the planning of new research studies by preparing protocols and all study documentation (including recruitment materials, information and consent documents, questionnaires, interview/focus group guides) and research ethics board applications.
- Contribute to grant writing and project proposals.
Project coordination
- Coordinate day-to-day research activities, including maintaining project documentation, monitoring timelines, organizing meetings and supporting communication among team members and partners.
Data collection and analysis
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis using appropriate methods and software.
- Support qualitative research studies, including coordinating recruitment, conducting interviews and focus groups, reviewing and coding transcripts, and participating in thematic analysis.
- Support quantitative and mixed-methods studies, including survey administration, data management and cleaning, and analysis and interpretation.
Partnership engagement
- Coordinate study advisory groups, including scheduling and facilitating meetings, preparing meeting materials and records, and managing correspondence with members.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with researchers, team members and project partners to support collaborative research planning, delivery and knowledge sharing.
Knowledge dissemination and translation
- Support knowledge dissemination to a wide variety of audiences including researchers, healthcare providers, community partners and the public, through preparing manuscripts for peer-review, presentations on activities and findings, and other knowledge sharing activities.
- Support knowledge translation by adapting research findings into educational, clinical and implementation resources that support the uptake and application of evidence in practice, programs and policy.

Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum two years of professional experience in a health research setting.
- Strong knowledge of research design, qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and research processes.
- Demonstrated experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting qualitative and mixed-methods data using appropriate methods and software.
- Knowledge of or experience in palliative care research or a related field.
- Knowledge of or experience with equity-oriented approaches to research, health services research or implementation science would be an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with a diverse team.
- Robust writing skills, with experience in preparing research documents, reports, and communication materials for academic and non-academic audiences.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, with a commitment to quality, accuracy and completeness.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with colleagues and partners from varied backgrounds and perspectives.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with research software, such as NVivo, SPSS.
