Overview

Camrose County is seeking a permanent full-time Seed Cleaning Plant Operator to join our team. Reporting to the Seed Cleaning Plant Manager, the SCP OperatorOperator will perform duties, as requested, in the daily operation of the Seed Cleaning Facility. This position will assist producers with required testing requirements prior to accepting seed into the facility and will promptly notify producers of positive test results.

The SCP Operator position will receive and clean grain from producers. The position is also responsible for collecting and maintaining the rough and cleaned grain lot/batch samples for the crop year and assist with the application of seed treatments. The SCP Operator will also be required to accurately document and record safety processes, work and inspections undertaken using the County’s electronic format.

Duties

- Operate seed cleaning equipment and seed treating in a safe efficient manner following the Standard Operator Procedures Manual and Camrose County’s Protected Work Practice Manual.
- Record management and retained sampling of pedigree seed as per the guidelines set by the Canada Seed Act.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on seed cleaning equipment as per the operator’s manual. If necessary, obtain a contractor to provide services.
- Ensure equipment calibration and application of seed treatment within compliance of manufacturer's specifications.
- Ability to unload trucks with product into receiving pits and load trucks with clean product.




- Collect and maintain the rough and cleaned grain lot/batch samples for the crop year.
- Perform routine maintenance on small equipment used for required tasks.
- Work with the local rate payers in a cooperative and assistive manner. (Public Relations)
- Obtain and record all pertinent information for work orders.
- Assist producers with the required testing requirements prior to accepting seed into the facility and notify producers of positive test results.
- Perform other tasks as may be required for the operation at the Seed Cleaning Plant and Camrose County.

Qualifications

- Grade 12 Education or equivalent
- Clean Drivers abstract and criminal record
- Experience with seed cleaning plant operations would be an asset
- Able to obtain and maintain a Pesticide Applicator Certificate (Seed Protectant)
- Albe to obtain an Operator of an Approved Conditioning Facility, Certified Grain Sampler, and Certified Grader Certification
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions associated with a variety of work activities
- Physical capability to perform some heavy manual tasks.
- Available to work overtime hours if required.
- Working knowledge of computers and smartphone applications.
- Knowledge of Camrose County.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $27.73-$33.70 per hour
