Senior Accountant

RACKsteel is a Langley, BC-based company that specializes in steel pallet racking and material handling solutions. We are looking for a candidate with a combination of public practice and manufacturing industry. In this role, you will bridge the gap between plant-level operational data and corporate financial reporting under ASPE.

This is a senior level position that involves dealing with clients, answering inquires, finalizing year end and taking instruction from senior staff. You will be completing month end corporate tax returns, bookkeeping, and preparation of financial statements. An ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of financial analysis and strategy and perform accounting operational functions.

Minimum 3-5 years of Canadian Public accounting experience - CPA preferred or CFE nearing completion, with 1 year of experience in manufacturing industry. We have an excellent working setting and are seeking an experienced, highly capable Senior Accountant to join our team in a hands-on accounting and financial management role.

Senior Accountant will work closely with the executive team to monitor and ensure our company's financial health. Maintain, manage, and analyze financial statements, and provide financial planning to support the company's growth objectives.

Other responsibilities encompass month end closing procedures, monitoring cash flow, annual budgets, banking administration, payroll administration, income tax administration, and other administrative and financial duties. You will report to company’s president and collaborate with the general manager.

Responsibilities

Administration & Payroll

- Assist with admin tasks and ordering office supplies
- Run payroll bi-weekly
- Reconcile year-end payroll, including taxable benefits and prepare and issue T4s
- Overseeing hours of personnel,



vacation and sick days tracking
- Perform other administrative duties as delegated

Accounting & Bookkeeping

- Manage day-to-day banking and bookkeeping activities: assist with bank and credit card monthly reconciliations
- Manage accounts payables, including invoice processing, vendor management, and payment processing & reconciliation
- Perform Accounts Receivable duties, process, file and collect payments, reconciliation, and resolve discrepancies
- Perform inventory adjustments, reconciliations, and regular inventory reviews
- Evaluate product and customer profitability, providing clear insight into gross margins and cost of good sold.
- Deposit cheques to bank, handle wire transfers and e-transfers, payment deposits
- Maintain the company's general ledger, filing system and control system, reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare monthly GST returns, health tax
- Ensure financial data entry is entered accurately and in a timely manner
- Provide training to non-financial personnel on internal control compliance
- Support the annual audit process by providing necessary documentation
- Prepare year-end tax/financial packages (T1/T2 tax returns)
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, accounting principles, and company policies
- Assist with improving accounting, inventory within the ERP system.
- Provide regular reporting to the management team.
- Manage cash flow to ensure the financial stability of the company




- Monitor and analyze budget performance ensuring effective cost control measures are in place
- Manage the financial reporting, tax planning & compliance function of the business

Minimum Qualifications:

- Enrolment in or plans to enroll in CPA program
- Bachelor's degree, Business or Accounting Preferred
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1 year directly in manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of standard cost for raw material, labor and manufacturing overhead
- Experience leading, mentoring, and coaching teams
- Advanced MS Excel knowledge
- Experience with Odoo ERP is a strong asset; experience with other manufacturing ERP software is highly acceptable
- Solid working knowledge of ASPE frameworks, specifically regarding inventory valuation

- Must be computer savvy, with particularly advanced Excel skills

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $85,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
