Position Overview

Justice Technology Services – Digital Design Branch is seeking two Senior Software Developers with 8+ years of experience to support the development of a modern, cloud-based digital information system and its integration with internal and external applications.

The successful candidates will be responsible for full-cycle software development, application support, system integration, testing support, deployment preparation, troubleshooting, production support, and knowledge transfer.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain modern web-based applications.

- Participate in the complete software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, deployment, and support.

- Build and integrate cloud-based applications with internal and external systems.

- Provide ongoing application support, troubleshooting, and production support.

- Work closely with the testing team during System Testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

- Prepare deployment packages, code, configuration details, and deployment instructions for:
- Development environments

- UAT environments

- Production environments

- Translate client requirements and functional specifications into technical designs and development solutions.

- Provide effort estimates for technical solutions and development activities.

- Participate in system integration and data migration activities.

- Develop and maintain technical documentation.

- Participate in knowledge-transfer activities with project managers and team members.

- Contribute to 1:1 meetings, team meetings, and documentation maintained on SharePoint throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

- 8+ years of overall experience across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

- 8+ years of experience with Microsoft .NET Framework technologies.

- Demonstrated experience developing web-based B2B and/or B2C applications in a client/server environment.

Technical Skills & Experience





.NET / Application Development

- Strong hands-on experience with C# and Microsoft .NET Framework technologies.

- Experience with .NET Core.

- Experience developing Web and Windows applications.

- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.

- Experience with ASP.NET, MVC, AJAX, WPF, WCF, Windows Services, and Web Services.

- Experience with ADO.NET.

- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, including versions 2015, 2013, 2010 and exposure to legacy versions such as 2005/2008.

Web Development / UI

- Strong web development experience using:
- HTML

- XML

- XSL

- XSLT

- JavaScript
- jQuery

- CSS

- Experience developing client-side functionality using JavaScript.

- Experience with form customization using JavaScript.

- Experience developing web-based solutions and sitemap structures.

- Experience establishing relationships between system and custom entities.

Azure / Cloud

- Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure, including:
- Installation

- Configuration

- Customization

- Extension

- Deployment

- Troubleshooting

- Production support

Database / Data

- Strong expertise in database systems and Microsoft SQL Server.

- Experience with SQL Server 2005, 2008/2008 R2, and 2012.

- Strong SQL and Stored Procedure development experience.

- Experience generating Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs).

- Experience with SSIS, LINQ, and SSRS.

- Experience with data migration and reporting.

- Exposure to Crystal Reports and Excel reporting.

Web / Server Infrastructure

- Positive knowledge of Microsoft IIS 7.0 and IIS 8.0.

- Experience supporting applications across Windows and Windows Server environments.

Software Development & Design The successful candidate should be able to:

- Analyze client requirements and functional specifications.

- Produce technical designs and development estimates.

- Develop solutions based on approved technical specifications.

- Design relationships between application entities.

- Create entity relationship diagrams.

- Develop, test, deploy, troubleshoot,



and support applications throughout their lifecycle.

- Work independently while collaborating effectively with technical and project teams.

Preferred / Additional Experience

- Previous experience working within Government or Public Sector organizations is highly desirable.

- Experience with large-scale enterprise or public-sector applications.

- Experience supporting application deployments across Development, UAT, and Production environments.

- Strong analytical, logical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

- 8+ years of overall SDLC experience.

Public Sector

Experience – 5 Points

- Previous Government or Public Sector experience.

Knowledge Transfer The developer will be expected to transfer knowledge relating to:

- Source code

- Technical documentation

- Development and deployment procedures

- Application configuration

- Assigned technical deliverables

Knowledge transfer will be provided to the Project Manager and Team Members through:

- 1:1 meetings

- Team meetings

- Technical documentation

- SharePoint documentation

- Ongoing project lifecycle activities

Important Candidate Requirements

- 8+ years of overall SDLC experience is mandatory.

- 8+ years of Microsoft .NET Framework experience is mandatory.

- Web-based B2B/B2C client-server application development experience is mandatory.

- Must be available to work 100% onsite at 21 College Street, Toronto.

- Must be able to work Monday–Friday, 7.25 hours/day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

- CRJMC security clearance requirement applies.
