FNHA’s security team is growing and we're continuing to mature our security capabilities. This role will play a significant part in shaping future processes, technologies, and operating models by working with our governance, infrastructure, and networking teams.

Title: Senior Specialist, Security Operations

Salary: $91,172 - $107,261 - $123,351 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours, 8:00am- 4:00pm (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)

Location: Coast Salish Territories: Metro Vancouver: Alberni office – Hybrid (Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy). Please note, this role will be relocating to our new office building in North Vancouver on Tsleil-Waututh Nation (TWN) land, south of Mount Seymour Parkway in Spring 2027.

About The Role

As Senior Specialist Security Operations, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and lead resource for FNHA’s cyber security detection and response capabilities. You will be responsible for monitoring, analysing, prioritizing, and escalating cyber security events that require a cyber security incident response. They also assist with coordinating investigations into events, incidents, and policy violations, and are a key member of the incident response team providing advice on containment,



eradication, and recovery.

Additionally, you will be responsible for the development of security playbooks for incident detection and response, analysing current and emerging threats, addressing vulnerability management, testing, and refining security monitoring tools (i.e., tuning), in collaboration with other cyber security personnel, other IM/IT teams, and key suppliers to reduce FNHA’s overall cyber risk.

About You To be successful in this role you will have –

Education

- University degree in cyber security, computer science, information technology, or a related discipline, or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.

Occupational Certification

- General security certifications like CompTIA Security+, SSCP, SANS GIAC Security Essentials, etc. are desirable.
- Security operations certifications like CompTIA CySA+, Blue Team Level I/II, GIAC GCIH/GCFA/GCIA/GSOC etc. are desirable.
- Security management-related certifications like CISSP, CISA, and CISM are an asset.
- Technology-related certifications like Microsoft, Cisco, Splunk, Palo Alto, etc. are an asset.

Experience

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in security operations, incident response, or related cyber security roles.
- Experience monitoring, detecting, and responding to cyber security threats and incidents.
- Experience in cyber security, information systems, or information technology in a medium to large-sized organization or a complex, diverse nature, is an asset.
- Experience in cyber security or a similarly technical analytical position, including managing security infrastructure, preferably in a health sector and/or IM/IT environment, is an asset.

Knowledge and Competencies

- Proficiency in SIEM tools and log analysis (e.g. LogRhythm, Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk).
- Proficiency in EDR/XDR tools (e.g. CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender,



Palo Alto Cortex).
- Proficiency in ticketing and incident management systems (e.g.

Service

Now).

The Pay

Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.

Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
