Role Overview The Systems Senior Test Analyst will provide advice on testing strategy, test plans, selection of testing tools, and identification of resources required for testing. The role involves planning and organizing testing efforts for large systems across Graphical User Interface (GUI) and non-GUI environments, including systems integration testing, specialized testing, user acceptance testing, performance testing, stress testing, and load testing.

The Quality Assurance Specialist will develop test plans, test scripts, and test cases and execute them against various system components. The specialist will work with testing leads, IT leads, and project team members throughout the analysis, design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of required systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide advice on testing strategy, test plans, testing tool selection, and resources required for testing.
- Plan and organize testing efforts for large systems in GUI and non-GUI environments, including systems integration tests, specialized tests, and user acceptance testing such as stress tests.
- Develop test plans, test scripts, and test cases and execute them against various system components.
- Work with testing leads, IT leads, and project team members throughout analysis, design, development, implementation, and ongoing system support.
- Execute functional, integration, system, and regression tests.
- Validate that systems behave as expected under various conditions.
- Identify, document, and track software defects using tools such as ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, and Azure DevOps.
- Work closely with developers to reproduce and resolve issues.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Micro Focus, OpenText™ UFT, Selenium, TestComplete, or Postman.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Conduct performance, stress, and load testing to ensure systems can handle expected user traffic and data volumes.
- Apply knowledge and understanding of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project managers to clarify requirements and ensure quality.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Maintain detailed documentation of test results, test coverage, and quality metrics.
- Provide input for user manuals and release notes.
- Ensure testing processes comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

- Knowledge and experience using Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools and data query tools to support test case development.

- Experience executing functional, non-functional, and systems-level integration tests.
- Experience supporting user acceptance testing and participating in UAT activities.
- Experience with quality assurance principles, practices, tools, and structured methodologies.
- Experience creating testing strategy documentation, test plans, test cases, and test data for various testing types and phases, including technical and business functional validation.
- Experience in quality assurance and testing, including unit, integration, load, and performance testing.
- Knowledge and experience across all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle.

- Knowledge of one or more automated testing tools.

- Demonstrated ability to write clear, comprehensive test cases and execute them effectively.
- Experience with tools such as ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, TestRail, and Zephyr.
- Familiarity with Selenium, Cypress, or Postman for API testing.
- Understanding of scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, and Bash for automation or test data setup.
- Demonstrated ability to write queries to validate data and perform backend testing.
- Clear understanding of software development and testing life cycles.
- Experience conducting basic security testing and collaborating with security specialists for deeper penetration testing.
- Experience developing and managing robust test data strategies, including generating realistic and sufficient test data, ensuring data privacy, and managing test data environments.
- Experience validating data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across system components and databases, including data migration and transformation testing.
- Experience developing and executing performance test scripts using tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner and analyzing performance bottlenecks and system scalability.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements Core Skills and Experience - 40%

- 10+ years of experience in software testing in enterprise-level IT environments and large-scale systems.
- Hands-on experience with manual testing and automated testing tools and frameworks.
- Deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall testing methodologies.
- Extensive experience with AODA testing and compliance.




- Experience creating and maintaining test strategies, test cases, scripts, and test reports.
- Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium or Postman for API testing.
- Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar.
- Experience with defect tracking tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar.
- Proven expertise in end-to-end testing of complex systems, covering functional and non-functional requirements.
- Knowledge of QA compliance standards and security testing best practices.

Technical Skills and Experience - 35%

- Solid understanding of databases such as SQL and Oracle.
- Knowledge of cloud technologies such as Azure and AWS.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integration tools such as Jenkins, Git, or GitLab.

Soft Skills - 20%

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams.

Public Sector Experience - 5%

- Knowledge of Ontario public-sector quality assurance standards and practices.

- 10+ years of experience in software testing in enterprise-level IT environments and large-scale systems.
