Job Summary

PGCOS is seeking a motivated and compassionate Seniors Housing Navigator to join our team. The Seniors Housing Navigator will play a crucial role in assisting seniors in Prince George in finding suitable housing options and navigating the complexities of the housing market to ensure safe and affordable living arrangements.

Salary and Benefits

· Salary will depend on the applicant’s qualifications, experiences, and skillset.

· Range of pay: $25.81/hr for 30 hours/week, based on experience and skillsets.

· Benefits after 3 months of probation period.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

· Conduct comprehensive assessments of seniors' housing needs, preferences, and financial capabilities.

· Gather information on seniors' current living situations, housing challenges, and desired outcomes.

· Provide personalized housing navigation support to seniors, including information on available housing options, rental subsidies, and affordable housing programs.

· Assist seniors in understanding and navigating housing applications, lease agreements, and eligibility criteria for various housing programs.

· Collaborate with landlords, property managers, and housing agencies to identify and secure appropriate housing accommodations for seniors.

· Develop and maintain a database of housing resources, including affordable housing listings, supportive living facilities, and senior-specific housing programs.

· Connect seniors with relevant community resources, such as legal aid services, financial assistance programs, and social support networks.





· Educate seniors on their rights and responsibilities as tenants, including tenancy laws, maintenance issues, and dispute resolution.

· Advocate on behalf of seniors to address housing-related barriers, discrimination, and accessibility issues.

· Conduct outreach and awareness campaigns to promote housing options and resources available to seniors in Prince George.

· Provide ongoing follow-up and support to seniors to ensure housing stability and address any housing-related concerns.

· Monitor seniors' housing situations and intervene as needed to prevent homelessness or housing insecurity.

· Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, referrals, progress, and outcomes.

· Prepare reports and documentation as required for funding agencies, grant applications, and program evaluation purposes.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in social work, gerontology, human services, or a related field preferred.

· Previous experience in housing navigation, case management, or social services, particularly with seniors, is an asset.

· Knowledge of housing programs, rental market trends, and community resources in Prince George and surrounding areas.

· Strong communication, advocacy, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work independently, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and adapt to changing priorities.
