Maintenance Associate – Shop Machines & Equipment

When a machine goes down, the whole shop feels it. Parts stop moving, jobs back up, and people end up waiting. This job exists to keep that from happening. You’ll keep our machines clean, lubricated, checked, and running, so the people who run them can focus on making good parts.

This isn’t a millwright position, and we’re not expecting you to rebuild a spindle. It’s hands-on, routine maintenance done properly and on schedule. The right person notices a strange noise or a small leak and deals with it before it turns into a breakdown. They like fixing things, keeping things in order, and knowing the shop runs better because of them.

If you’ve done some machine or general maintenance and want to build on it, we’d like to meet you. We’ll teach you our equipment. What we can’t teach is the mindset.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll do daily and scheduled maintenance on the machines and equipment across the shop, including CNC mills and lathes, lasers, press brakes, saws, and general shop equipment. You’ll keep records of what you did, flag bigger problems to your supervisor, and work with outside service techs when a repair goes beyond routine maintenance.

- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on shop machines and equipment
- Check and top up fluids: coolant, way lube, hydraulic oil, and lubricants
- Clean machines, chip trays, filters, and coolant sumps
- Inspect belts, hoses, fittings, and guards, and replace worn parts as needed
- Listen and look for early warning signs like leaks, noise, vibration, or overheating, and report them
- Make basic mechanical repairs and adjustments using hand and power tools
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures every time, with no exceptions
- Keep maintenance records and checklists up to date
- Keep maintenance supplies and common spare parts stocked and organized
- Work with outside service technicians on larger repairs
- Help with general building and shop maintenance when needed





What you bring You don’t need a trade licence. You do need to be comfortable with tools, curious about how machines work, and someone who follows through without being chased.

- Some experience with machine maintenance, general maintenance, or mechanical work
- Comfortable using hand tools and power tools safely
- Mechanically inclined, with an interest in learning how our equipment works
- Able to follow maintenance checklists, manuals, and written procedures
- Organized and reliable, and able to keep simple records accurate
- Safety-first mindset, where PPE and lockout/tagout are non-negotiable
- Physically able to lift, bend, kneel, and work in and around machines throughout the day
- Forklift experience is an asset, and we’ll help with training

Manufacturing or machine shop experience is a bonus but not required. A millwright or industrial mechanic licence is not required for this role.

- This is a full-time, permanent, on-site Maintenance Associate position
- Overtime pay applies after 40 hours per week – 48+ hours is common during busy periods and should be expected
