Rainy River

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

About The Role

Position: Site Services Operator

Schedule: Shift 7/7 – 12 hour days

Position Reports To: Site Services Supervisor

Position Overview

Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the successful applicant will be responsible for operating all Site services mobile equipment, road maintenance, site snow clearing and brush clearing, assisting in the building and maintenance of pipelines and the placement and fueling of pumps, light plants, gensets and heaters.

- Please note that camp accommodations are not provided for this role.

Key Responsibilities

- Checks equipment using approved circle check procedures before operating to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Adheres to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances.
- Communicates any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisors in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
- Disable cellular phones and other sources of distraction at all times while operating equipment.
- Diagnoses / identifies defects in heavy duty equipment.
- Cleans, lubricates and perform other minor maintenance work.
- Other related duties to support the team as required to ensure a protected, efficient and productive environment which contribute to the success of the Rainy River Mine.

Qualifications

- Must have previous experience operating at least one of the following equipment: front end loaders, telehandler, and skid steer.
- Valid Class DZ Drivers’ License




- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership in safety is essential in this role
- Demonstrated leadership in environmental management, such as dealing with environmental spills, and sediment and erosion protection.
- Strong drive to learn new skills
- Willingness to take on progressively more responsibilities as they grow and develop with the company
- Aptitude for mechanics with the ability to handle heavy machinery
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and signage
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Physically fit with the ability to perform physical labour
- Ability to work under pressure and produce high quality work within time constraints.

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $73,000 to $87,000
