FLCA is seeking a passionate, creative, and highly engaging Full-Time Spanish Instructor to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who believes that learning a language should be engaging, meaningful, and connected to the real world. Rather than relying primarily on traditional textbook grammar drills, you will bring Spanish to life through interactive stories, conversation, movement, cultural experiences, and comprehensible input, creating an immersive and low-anxiety environment where students are motivated to communicate.

As a Spanish Instructor, you will play an important role in helping students develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, while also building cultural awareness and global competencies that align with FLCA's Global Studies and entrepreneurial approach to learning.

Bring Spanish to Life: What You’ll Do

Create an Immersive Learning Environment





- Deliver engaging and interactive Spanish instruction aligned with the FLCA curriculum and instructional methodology.
- Create an environment where Spanish is introduced through simple, repetitive, and comprehensible language.
- Use storytelling, conversation, gestures, visuals, movement, and other creative approaches to make language learning engaging and memorable.
- Incorporate cultural and global perspectives into language instruction.
- Connect language learning to real-world experiences, communication, collaboration, and global learning.

Inspire Communication and Confidence

- Foster a positive, inclusive, and low-anxiety classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and communicating in Spanish.
- Prioritize meaningful communication and language acquisition while developing students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
- Adapt instruction and pacing to meet the diverse needs and proficiency levels of students.
- Encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence, and a genuine love of language learning.

Assess and Support Student Learning

- Monitor and assess student progress in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Use assessment methods appropriate to students' age, proficiency level, and learning needs.
- Provide meaningful feedback and adjust instruction to support student growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support student success and contribute to FLCA's collaborative learning environment.

Are You Our Next Spanish Instructor? We are looking for someone who is:

- Fluent in Spanish and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Passionate about language and culture and excited to share that passion with students.
- Naturally animated and engaging, with the ability to use facial expressions, gestures, storytelling, humour, movement, and energy to capture students' attention.
- Creative and adaptable, with a willingness to move beyond traditional textbook-based instruction.
- Patient and empathetic,



with the ability to simplify concepts and adjust instruction based on student needs.
- Coachable and curious, with an enthusiasm for learning FLCA's instructional methodology.
- Collaborative, with a commitment to contributing positively to the school community.

Qualifications and Experience

- A certificate or degree in language teaching, education, instructional design, writing, language, linguistics, second-language acquisition, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience is preferred.
- Experience incorporating cultural and global perspectives into language instruction is an asset.
- Experience in acting, improvisation, drama, storytelling, or other performance-based activities is highly valued.
- A recent Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, completed within the past three months, is required.
- First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
