What you will do

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Senior Environmental Manager, Det’on Cho Environmental, supports the leadership and delivery of the company’s environmental services and operations. The position works closely with the Managing Director to implement strategic and operational priorities, oversee environmental projects and programs, support business development, and ensure work is delivered safely, effectively, and in accordance with regulatory and contractual requirements.

The Senior Environmental Manager provides day-to-day leadership and oversight of assigned environmental operations, projects, and staff and supports strong relationships with clients, regulators, Indigenous governments, community partners, and other stakeholders. The role balances commercial success with environmental stewardship and Indigenous economic participation.

A Day in the Life

- Lead and oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of environmental projects and programs.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope, budget, and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate project schedules, staffing, equipment, contractors,



and other resources required for successful project delivery.
- Ensure environmental projects and activities comply with applicable legislation, regulations, permits, licences, contractual requirements, and company procedures.
- Monitor regulatory requirements and emerging environmental practices relevant to DCE operations.
- Coordinate environmental monitoring, reporting, permitting, and compliance activities as required.
- Provide day-to-day oversight and coordination of assigned environmental operations and field activities.
- Work with project teams, field staff, contractors, and corporate support functions to ensure operational requirements are met.
- Support proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and new business opportunities.
- Identify emerging client needs and opportunities within environmental services.
- Provide leadership, coaching, mentorship, and performance management to assigned employees and project teams.
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, training, and employee development.
- Support Indigenous employment, training, and career development initiatives in alignment with Det’on Cho values and community commitments.
- Monitor project budgets, expenditures, forecasts, and financial performance.




- Provide operational and financial updates to the Managing Director as required.

What You Bring

- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a related field. A combination of education and equivalent experience will be considered.
- Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in environmental services, natural resource industries, construction, or related sectors.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex operations, multi-site projects, and diverse teams.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements in the Northwest Territories or northern Canada.
- Proven financial management and business development experience.
- Experience working with or alongside Indigenous governments, organizations, or businesses is a strong asset.
- Community Engagement and Indigenous Knowledge related experience is considered an asset.
