Job Summary

We’re growing our Finance team and looking for a Staff Accountant to add depth and support to our current accounting team. You’ll work alongside experienced colleagues across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end reporting, helping ensure the team has the capacity to manage day-to-day priorities and tackle recent projects.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with others, and understanding how the numbers connect to a manufacturing business. You’ll use Epicor ERP, investigate discrepancies, prepare financial information, and help strengthen the processes our team relies on.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES –

- Manage accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, payment application, customer account inquiries, and follow-up on outstanding balances.
- Navigate customer payment portals to retrieve remittance information, track payments, and reconcile customer accounts.
- Manage accounts payable activities, including invoice review, coding, payment preparation, and vendor inquiries.
- Prepare and review bank, customer, vendor, inventory, and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and making corrections as needed.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare financial reports, variance analysis, and operational reporting packages for management review.
- Maintain accurate financial data and supporting documentation in Epicor ERP.
- Process payroll accurately and in accordance with company policies and applicable legislation.
- Coordinate payroll information, including employee status changes, compensation updates, and time reporting; prepare payroll reports and reconciliations.
- Support inventory accounting, including reconciliations and investigation of variances.
- Organize and maintain company insurance records, including policies, certificates, renewals, and related documentation.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
- Review financial transactions for accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting standards, escalating irregularities to the management team.
- Maintain organized financial records and support the company’s financial controls.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES –

Knowledge:

- Knowledge of general accounting principles (GAAP), financial reporting practices, and general ledger management.
- Understanding of payroll processing practices, statutory deductions, and payroll recordkeeping.




- Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliation processes.
- Understanding of financial reporting standards and internal control practices.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly Epicor, and financial reporting tools.

Skills:

- Strong financial reconciliation and account analysis skills.
- Ability to process payroll accurately and maintain payroll documentation.
- Proficiency with financial systems and ERP platforms including Epicor.
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing financial data and documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.

Abilities:

- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail when handling financial transactions and payroll data.
- Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or irregularities.
- Follow established accounting and payroll procedures while maintaining internal control standards.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and employee payroll information.
- Manage multiple accounting and payroll responsibilities while meeting reporting deadlines.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE –

- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Experience processing payroll and maintaining payroll records considered an asset.
- Experience working within an ERP system, preferably Epicor, considered an asset.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment considered an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- CPA designation or Interest in Pursuing.

WORKING CONDITIONS –

- Primarily office-based role performed during standard business hours.
- Sitting: approximately 80% of the workday performing computer-based accounting tasks, payroll processing, and financial reporting.
- Walking: approximately 10–15% of the workday for meetings, collaboration with departments, and occasional access to production areas.
- Standing: approximately 5–10% of the workday during meetings or administrative activities.




- Extended computer use and repetitive keyboarding required.
- Regular interaction with internal departments including finance, operations, purchasing, and management.
- Occasional exposure to manufacturing areas when reviewing inventory, production reporting, or operational financial data.
- Mandatory use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) when accessing the shop floor.
- Increased workload may occur during payroll cycles, month-end close, financial reporting periods, and audit preparation.
