Position Overview

Island Hose & Fittings is seeking a Material Handler – Industrial Hose & Workshop Support to assist with the receiving, handling, movement, preparation, storage and shipment of related workshop materials.

This is a hands-on workshop and material-handling position requiring physical ability, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and the safe use of basic material-handling equipment and workshop tools. The work environment can be noisy and dusty, with regular exposure to industrial workshop activities. The successful candidate will support the workshop and operations team by ensuring materials are properly received, identified, moved, organized, prepared and made available for hose assembly and customer orders.

Responsibilities

· Load, unload and move customer product, tools, equipment and other workshop materials by hand and using basic material-handling equipment.

· Receive, sort, count, weigh, inspect and organize incoming materials.

· Move materials between receiving, storage, workshop and shipping areas as required.

· Prepare materials and components for customer orders.

· Operate appropriate material-handling equipment, hand trucks, carts, lifting devices and other basic equipment as trained and authorized.

· Assist with packing, unpacking, tagging, labelling and preparing completed products for delivery or shipment.

· Assist with loading and unloading customer, supplier and company vehicles.

· Maintain organized storage areas and assist with inventory control, including locating,



counting and checking materials.

· Open containers and crates and safely organize materials into designated storage areas.

· Perform routine inspection and basic care of material-handling and workshop equipment and report any issues to a supervisor.

· Assist with general workshop, material-handling and labour activities as required.

· Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.

· Follow company safety procedures, manufacturer instructions and applicable workplace health and safety requirements.

· Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding material requirements, job priorities, shortages and production issues.

Skills Requirements – Education

· Completion of secondary school is preferred.

· Equivalent practical training and experience may be considered.

Experience:

· Previous experience in material handling, warehouse work, manufacturing, industrial workshops, mechanical assembly or a related field is an asset.

· Experience using hand tools, power tools, hand trucks, carts or other basic workshop/material-handling equipment is an asset.

· Experience handling industrial hose, fittings, hydraulic or pneumatic components is considered an asset.

· Experience receiving, sorting, counting, packing, unpacking or organizing industrial materials is considered an asset.

· Training will be provided on company-specific equipment,



procedures and specialized hose materials.

· Ability to follow detailed work instructions and procedures.

· Ability to safely handle heavy or awkward industrial hose, fittings and workshop materials.

· Ability to work effectively as part of a small workshop and operations team.
