Introduction The Superintendent serves as an on-site representative of Satellite Community Homes and plays an important role in supporting the day-to-day operation, safety and overall condition of the residential properties at Linden Drive.

The Superintendent has regular direct contact with tenants, contractors, service providers, and staff and is responsible for helping maintain safe, clean and well-functioning buildings while promoting positive and professional tenant relations. The successful candidate must develop a strong working knowledge of the properties and be able to identify and respond appropriately to maintenance, security, and operational concerns.

Given the nature of the position, the Superintendent must demonstrate a genuine sense of responsibility for the buildings and their tenants. The ideal candidate is dependable, approachable, and organized, with strong communication, problem-solving and time-management skills, and the ability to respond effectively to day-to-day building needs.

This is a full-time, permanent, salaried position that requires the successful candidate to reside on-site in Cambridge. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Salary Range

$41,856.55 - $42,201.80 (Inclusive of Housing Benefit)

Accountability The Superintendent reports to the Director of Facilities.

Confidentiality The Superintendent shall not disclose the business of the Non-Profits before or after the term of employment by the Non-Profit, or use for her/his own purpose, or for the purpose of any other organization or individual, any information which she/he may acquire concerning the operation of the Non-Profit.

Key Responsibilities

- Cleaning interior common areas as needed (eg: sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, etc.)




- Be involved with cleaning units as needed (apartments and townhouse) at turnovers (eg: remove belongings, clean all areas including fridge/stove, etc.)
- Performing minor maintenance on mechanical equipment (eg: replacing furnace filters, air filters, inspecting belts, etc.)
- Performing maintenance in tenant’s unit (eg: fixing closet doors, adjusting cupboard hinges, replacing aerators, fill valves and flappers, plunging toilets)
- Inventory control of maintenance and cleaning supplies
- Garbage control (eg: moving recycling bins, keeping site litter-free, etc.)
- Exterior/grounds maintenance and cleaning (eg: light gardening, sweeping walkways, etc.)
- Conducting daily, weekly, and monthly life safety checks and inspections
- Conduct daily walk arounds in all buildings and exterior grounds to identify health and safety hazards, property damages etc.
- Performing other related duties as assigned/required

- Ability to identify maintenance concerns and perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs within the scope of the position.
- General knowledge of residential building systems, preventative maintenance practices and property operations.
- Working knowledge of applicable legislation and safety requirements, including the Residential Tenancies Act, Fire Code, Occupational Health and Safety requirements and other standards relevant to residential housing.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, complete inspections and documentation, and communicate concerns requiring follow-up.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm, professional, and respectful when responding to difficult, sensitive or potentially confrontational situations.
- Dependable and responsive, with a strong sense of responsibility for the safety, cleanliness, security and overall condition of the property.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to use email, electronic work-order systems and other organizational software as required.

- Possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Provide a clean criminal and vulnerable sector police record check upon hire
- Possess excellent janitorial skills
- Possess excellent record keeping skills
- Possess the physical and technical capabilities to perform the duties of the position including (but not limited to) the ability to handle heavy loads (lift up to 50lbs), use an 8-foot ladder, perform repetitive tasks, bend, crouch and kneel, sometimes in confined spaces
- Ability/willingness to enter and work in unsanitary conditions
- Must have use of own reliable vehicle

Pay: $41,856.55-$46,201.80 per year
