Teaching Assistant for: JSGS 832- Population-Based Health Program Management The Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy is seeking a highly organized and motivated Teaching Assistant (TA) to support the delivery of JSGS 832- Population-Based Health Program Management during the Winter 2027 term.
JSGS 832 is a graduate course in the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program that introduces students to key concepts and approaches in population health management. Course topics include population health and epidemiology, health equity, social determinants of health, population health measurement, global health, public health ethics, public health policy, population-based payment methods, and leadership in population health.
The TA will work closely with the instructor to support course delivery, student learning, assessment, and other course-related activities in an online learning setting.
The TA will assist with activities that may include:
- Assisting with the assessment of assignments using established course criteria and rubrics.
- Providing clear, constructive, and timely written feedback on student work.
- Assisting with course organization and preparation of learning materials as required;
- Supporting online course activities through UR Courses and Zoom.
- Assisting with student questions and course-related communication, as appropriate and under the direction of the instructor.
- Meeting regularly with the instructor to support consistency in assessment and feedback.
- Performing other course-related duties as assigned by the instructor.
Position Requirements The successful applicant should have:
- Graduate-level training in public health, population health, health policy, health administration, health sciences, epidemiology, public policy, or a closely related field.
- Strong knowledge of population health and public health concepts, particularly health equity, social determinants of health, public health policy.
- Ability to critically assess graduate-level academic and policy-oriented work and provide constructive feedback.
- Strong academic writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate professionally with graduate students.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with the course instructor.
- Comfort working with Zoom, UR Courses, and online learning environments.
The following would be considered assets:
- A completed graduate degree or advanced doctoral training in public health, population health, health policy, health administration, public policy, or health equity.
- Previous teaching assistant, marking, or graduate-level instructional experience.
- Research or professional experience in public health, population health, health policy, health systems, or health equity.
- Familiarity with Canadian health and public health systems.
- Experience supporting online graduate courses.
Physical Demands Pay Grade As Per CUPE 2419 Salary Range As Per CUPE 2419 Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours As assigned by the course instructor and in accordance with the applicable University of Regina/CUPE 2419 appointment.
