Live-In Caregiver Wanted — Full-Time

I am seeking a responsible, emotionally mature, and self-motivated live-in/full-time caregiver to join our home and provide consistent, high-quality care for my two young children. This is a high-responsibility, sole-charge role best suited to an experienced caregiver who is grounded, assertive, and genuinely comfortable managing complex situations independently.

It is not suited to someone who is new to caregiving or who requires significant direction once settled.

This is a long-term position offering private accommodations in a supportive, structured household.

Compensation is competitive based on experience and live-in status.

Candidates who are selected will complete a structured 90-day probationary period with formal written reviews.

About the Role:

You’ll be an essential part of our family’s day-to-day life. I work full-time, including frequent multi-day travel, and need someone who is confident managing the children and household independently in my absence, even if I’m working from home or physically present but unavailable.

This role requires someone who can take leadership when I’m away, follow household routines with integrity, and show up as a reliable, grounded adult presence for the children every day. A high degree of trust, transparency, and professional communication is essential to this role.

What I’m Looking For

- A well-organized self-starter with a minimum of two years of professional, placed caregiving experience, this is not an entry-level role
- Someone assertive by nature, able to hold a boundary warmly and firmly, and who does not shrink from a child who pushes back hard
- Someone with experience supporting children with big emotions, behavioural complexity, or neurodevelopmental differences and who approaches those moments with calm, confidence, and without taking behaviour personally
- Someone who leads confidently during school drop-offs, pick-ups, outings, and transitions




- A person with a valid G driver’s license is an asset, but location is also close to transit
- Someone flexible with their time to accommodate my changing work and travel schedule
- A caregiver who values boundaries, structure, warmth, and emotional attunement
- Someone aligned with anti-racist, decolonial, and non-authoritarian values in raising children
- Someone who communicates proactively and honestly, including about personal schedule changes, absences from the home, and any concerns about the role
- Someone who can give and receive direct feedback with maturity and without defensiveness
- A person whose references can speak specifically to how they handle conflict, accountability, unexpected challenges, and who have seen them manage a child in genuine distress or dysregulation

Key Responsibilities

- Daily care and supervision of the children
- Solo care of the children for 2–5 days at a time during parent travel
- Preparing healthy meals and snacks in line with established nutrition expectations
- Active engagement and play with the children (no screen babysitting)
- Confident, assertive management of sibling conflict and emotional dysregulation, including de-escalation during intense episodes, without requiring direction from the parent
- Light housekeeping related to the children (dishes, tidying shared spaces, supporting children’s chores)
- Leading routines around morning prep, school transitions, bedtime, and household expectations
- Accompanying children to activities, school, and appointments
