Join our dynamic team as a Truck Driver - Class 1 and take charge of delivering freight efficiently and safely across various routes. Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks to transport freight over short and long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns, performing basic automotive repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation for shipments, including delivery logs, freight manifests, and inspection reports.
- Coordinate with dispatchers to plan routes efficiently, optimize delivery schedules, and communicate any delays or issues promptly.
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts for loading and unloading cargo safely within warehouse or yard environments.
- Assist with warehouse tasks related to freight management, including inventory checks and equipment operation.
Skills
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating heavy trucks in various conditions with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Proficiency in forklift operation for handling freight within warehouses or loading areas.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures, including securing loads and weight distribution.
- Ability to perform basic automotive repairs and troubleshoot mechanical issues on trucks.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and transportation regulations.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members, dispatchers, and clients.
