Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks to transport freight over short and long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
- Conduct routine inspections of the vehicle before and after trips, performing basic automotive repairs or reporting maintenance needs promptly
- Assist with freight documentation, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and inspection reports
- Coordinate with dispatchers to plan efficient routes and schedules for timely deliveries
- Maintain accurate records of driving hours, fuel consumption, maintenance logs, and freight details
- Follow safety protocols at all times to prevent accidents or damage during transportation or loading activities
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Proven experience in commercial driving, preferably with freight or logistics companies
- Proficiency in forklift operation for loading and unloading cargo
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and basic automotive repair skills
- Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and minor repairs as needed
- Robust organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation and safety procedures
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and clients effectively
