UI/UX Designer (VR/XR) (Full-time)

Reporting to NORCAT’s Studio Manager, the UI/UX Designer will be responsible for designing and improving the user experience across Studio NORCAT's Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), desktop, mobile, and FIAR™ product line. The employee will work closely with programmers, artists, quality assurance, and project leads to create intuitive, engaging, and consistent user interfaces for all Studio NORCAT products.

Key Responsibilities:

User Interface / User Experience

- Design user interfaces for Unity3D VR, AR, desktop, and mobile applications.
- Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and production-ready interface designs.
- Develop intuitive workflows and user interactions for training applications.
- Maintain a consistent visual style and user experience across all Studio NORCAT products.
- Improve usability through user feedback and testing.
- Design menus, icons, HUDs, control panels, and interactive interfaces.
- Create and maintain Studio NORCAT's UI design standards and reusable interface components.

Project Support Support existing projects throughout the development lifecycle by:





- Designing and implementing new user interfaces.
- Improving existing interfaces and workflows.
- Working with programmers to integrate UI into Unity.
- Collaborating with artists and developers to ensure consistency.
- Creating graphics, icons, and interface assets.
- Assisting with screenshots, videos, and marketing materials when required.
- Preparing UI documentation and design specifications.

Technical Requirements The UI/UX Designer will be expected to be proficient in:

- Unity3D
- Figma, Adobe XD, Photoshop, or similar design software
- Visual Studio
- Basic C# understanding
- SourceTree, GitHub, or Unity Version Control

The successful candidate should have:

- Robust visual design skills.
- Knowledge of user-centred design principles.
- Experience designing interfaces for desktop, mobile, or VR applications.
- Ability to learn and adapt to emerging technologies.

General Administration:

- Work collaboratively with Studio NORCAT team members.
- Assist in project planning, timelines, and UI documentation.
- Ensure all work meets Studio NORCAT quality standards.
- Complete assigned tasks within established project schedules.

Experience, Qualifications and Requirements:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in UI/UX Design, Graphic Design, Interactive Media, Game Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience designing user interfaces for interactive applications.
- Experience with Unity3D or game engines is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Self-motivated, creative, and capable of solving complex design problems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
