Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite – 5 days per week

Contract: August 10, 2026 – March 31, 2027

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an Intermediate UX Designer to support the design and delivery of user-centered digital products and services. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching user needs, developing intuitive and accessible experiences, creating prototypes and design solutions, facilitating usability testing, and collaborating closely with product owners, developers, business teams, and other stakeholders.

The UX Designer will work within an Agile/Scrum environment and should have strong experience with mobile-first, responsive design, Service Design, established design systems, user research, usability testing, and iterative design.

Key Responsibilities

- Create effective, user-friendly, visually appealing interfaces and digital experiences.

- Design the overall functionality of products to ensure an excellent user experience.

- Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test, iterate, and refine designs based on user feedback and testing.

- Conduct and facilitate user research, interviews, surveys, and usability testing.

- Translate research and user feedback into:
- Sitemaps

- User flows

- User journey/customer journey maps

- Wireframes

- Mockups

- Prototypes

- User stories

- Design and deliver experiences optimized for a wide range of devices, interfaces, and screen sizes.

- Apply mobile-first and responsive design principles.

- Facilitate the client's product vision through research, ideation, sketching, prototyping, and user testing.

- Identify UX/design problems and develop effective and elegant solutions.

- Make strategic UX and design decisions relating to existing and current product functionality.

- Gather user feedback and use findings to configure and improve existing interfaces.

- Design interfaces for web and mobile applications and other digital products as required.

- Collaborate with Product Owners, UX designers, developers, business teams, and other stakeholders.

- Participate in Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.

- Support projects through different delivery stages, including Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live (DABL) or similar methodologies.

- Communicate design concepts, processes, recommendations, and solutions clearly to clients and stakeholders.





- Manage competing priorities while meeting project deadlines and delivery expectations.

Requirements

Mandatory Technical & UX Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate the following:

User Experience Design

- Extensive experience applying UX design best practices to develop effective design solutions.

- Strong understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.

- Demonstrated ability to efficiently and intelligently iterate designs and solutions.

- 3+ years of relevant experience participating in complex projects/products of varying sizes.

- Experience ensuring UX deliverables align with project plans, design best practices, and user-centered design processes.

- Experience working within Agile/Scrum methodologies.

- Experience facilitating User Research and Usability Testing.

- Experience producing user research deliverables, including:
- User Interview Topic Maps

- User Interview Scripts

- User Interview Synthesis, including collection, aggregation, and analysis of written observations

- User Research Findings Reports

- Experience with Service Design frameworks.

- Experience working with established design systems.

- Prior experience designing for web and mobile applications.

Design & Prototyping Tools

Must have Figma experience.

Candidates should demonstrate expertise with UX/design tools such as:

- Figma – Mandatory

- JustInMind

- InVision

- Sketch

- Adobe Creative Cloud

- Axure

- Zeplin

Knowledge of the following is an asset:
- HTML5

- CSS3

- JavaScript

- React

- Angular

- Node.js

- Azure DevOps

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Ability to lead meetings and present UX/design solutions to stakeholders and clients.

- Demonstrated communication and mediation skills when working with business teams and core project teams.

- Experience helping teams overcome resistance to change and supporting adoption throughout different project stages.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a balanced product team consisting of:
- Product Owner

- UX Designer(s)

- Developers

- Business/Client stakeholders

- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving,



and decision-making abilities.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams and stakeholders.

Education

- Degree or diploma in Graphic Design is preferred/required as applicable.

- A degree or certification in any of the following is an asset:
- Usability

- Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)

- Technical Writing

Nice-to-Have Experience

- Previous experience working with the Ontario Public Service (OPS) or other public-sector organizations.

- Knowledge of DABL – Discovery, Alpha, Beta, Live delivery methodology.

- Accessibility compliance/testing experience.

- Experience with public-sector digital services and design standards.

- Strong in negotiation and stakeholder management.

- Analytical and solution-oriented.

- Organized and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

- Comfortable working in a distributed/digital delivery workplace.
