Vice President, Construction Division

Position Summary

CMC Partners are working alongside an established player in the Canadian market to hire a tenured Vice President Construction. As a member of the Senior Leadership team, this individual will report to the Executive Leadership team and take on responsibility for the construction division and all related operations. The role provides strategic leadership, directs planning for divisional growth, and holds accountability for the division’s profit and loss performance.

This leader will be expected to drive commercial and operational excellence while maintaining high standards of health, safety, environmental stewardship, and quality in support of sustainable business growth.

Role Scope

Direct reports: Four operational leaders overseeing regional construction operations and production facilities.

Indirect reports: Approximately 60–70 employees.

Primary Responsibilities

- Refine and communicate divisional goals and strategy in alignment with the organization’s vision.
- Identify and capitalize on market opportunities to achieve strategic, financial, and operational objectives.
- Build strategic alliances with stakeholders to manage issues, strengthen the organization’s reputation, and identify growth opportunities.
- Develop and execute a clear plan for profitable growth that builds on the division’s strengths.
- Integrate acquisitions effectively to realize planned synergies and value.




- Expand the construction business in sectors that support demand for the organization’s products and services.
- Implement talent-management strategies that build and sustain a high-performing team.

Skills and Knowledge

This position requires a high level of initiative and judgement to organize, prioritize, and oversee daily responsibilities. Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential in day-to-day working relationships.

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities, supervise work, and maintain effective relationships.
- Advanced numerical proficiency for financial analysis and oversight.
- Proven ability to identify business opportunities and develop short- and long-term strategic plans.
- Ability to plan and oversee a varied workload across a large division or function and provide constructive performance feedback.
- Advanced problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify, analyse, and resolve complex issues.
- Proficiency with common business technology used for reporting and presentations.
- Strong business acumen and strategic leadership capability.

Education and Experience -

Education: A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, business, or a related discipline is desirable.

Experience: More than 10+ years of management or supervisory experience in construction, construction materials, or a closely related industry.

Licences and certifications: A valid driver’s licence in valuable standing is required.
