Role Description The Videography Coach is responsible for teaching beginner and intermediate students the fundamentals of videography, including camera operation, composition, lighting, sound, and storytelling. In this remote contract role, the coach will deliver live online classes and workshops, provide individualized feedback on student projects, and design practical exercises that mirror real-world shooting scenarios.

Day-to-day tasks include preparing lesson plans, demonstrating videography techniques on various devices, answering student questions, assessing progress, and adapting teaching styles to different learning needs.



The coach will collaborate with the Learn Photography Canada team to maintain consistent teaching quality and contribute ideas for new videography courses or enhancements to existing programs.

Qualifications

- Strong practical knowledge of videography techniques, including camera settings, framing, lighting, audio capture, and basic video editing.
- Experience delivering online or in-person instruction, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to beginners.
- Proficiency with common video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve) and basic post-production workflows.
- Comfort with remote teaching tools and digital platforms (video conferencing, screen sharing, learning management systems).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a supportive and encouraging coaching style.
- Robust organizational skills and reliability in preparing lessons, managing schedules, and following established curricula.
- Prior experience in professional videography, filmmaking, content creation, or related visual media is an asset.
- Background in education, training, or mentoring learners is beneficial.
- Ability to work independently, with a commitment to creating inclusive, respectful learning environments for diverse students.
