Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and dynamic Warehouse & Yard Operations. In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end operations of our indoor warehouse and outdoor lumber yard. You will manage inventory accuracy, heavy equipment safety, receiving, and order fulfillment for retail customers. As a key leader, you will manage a team of warehouse associates, order pickers, and forklift operators, ensuring a safe and customer-centric environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Operational Leadership: Direct daily warehouse and lumber yard activities, including inbound freight receiving, put-away, bulk storage management, and customer order staging.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce provincial Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations. Maintain strict safety protocols for heavy material handling, racking systems, and material handling equipment (MHE), including heavy-duty forklifts and radial arm saws. Lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
- Inventory Control & Systems: Manage inventory Receiving, Storage, and Transfer, in both the auxiliary warehouse and the lumberyard.
- Team Development: Recruit, train, schedule, and manage the performance of warehouse leads, associates, and operators. Foster a diverse, inclusive, and highly motivated workforce.
- Logistics & Delivery Support: Coordinate closely with the delivery and fleet supervisors to stage building supplies, drywall,



bulk flooring, and lumber for flatbed and boom-truck dispatch.
- Departmental Collaboration: Partner with Department Supervisors (e.g., Flooring, Lumber, Building Materials) to align stock replenishment with sales forecasts and seasonal promotional resets.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Experience: 2+ years of warehouse or logistics management experience, preferably in a big-box retail setting, industrial building supply distribution center, or high-volume lumber yard.
- Certifications: Valid Forklift Operator Certification (Counterbalance, Reach truck, or Propane/Diesel Yard Forklift). A valid driver’s license is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of safely storing and handling heavy, bulky building supplies, structural timber, fragile flooring pallets (tile, hardwood, laminate), and hazardous materials.
- Legalities: Must have a thorough understanding of provincial labour standards and OHS safety codes.
- Physical Demands: Ability to work in diverse environments (unconditioned warehouse space and outdoor lumber yard during winter/summer conditions) and lift up to 50 lbs safely.
