IT Systems Support Specialist - Technology & InfrastructureLocation:Ottawa, ON - On-SiteContract:6 Months + ExtensionStart:ASAPThe OpportunityWe are seeking a hands-onIT Systems Support Specialistto provide technical support across a complex, highly operational technology environment.This is an excellent prospect for aJunior to Intermediate IT professionalwho enjoys a combination ofend-user support, Windows systems, networking, infrastructure troubleshooting, and hands-on hardware support .The successful candidate will support both traditional corporate IT infrastructure and specialized operational technology, including workstations, servers, networks, kiosks, printers, displays, telephony, security systems, and other technology used within a large operational facility.Previous airport experience is NOT required.Experience supporting technology in an airport, transportation, logistics, healthcare, manufacturing, or other 24/7 operational environment would be considered an asset.What You'll Be DoingInstall, configure, maintain, and troubleshootdesktops, laptops, hardware, software, and peripheral devicesProvide responsiveonsite and remote technical supportto internal usersTroubleshootWindows environments, Active Directory, Exchange, VPN, storage, and related enterprise systemsCreate, modify, and remove user accounts and assist with password resets and access issuesApply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changesTroubleshoot and maintainLAN/WAN connectivityDiagnose issues involvingrouters, switches, firewalls, servers, and other network-connected equipmentInstall, configure, and support specialized hardware such askiosks, service desks, boarding pass printers, baggage tag printers, displays, and other operational devicesSupport technology associated withbuilding systems, operational systems, displays, parking, public address, telephony, and security/access-control environmentsRespond tohelp desk tickets and service requests,
providing timely troubleshooting and resolutionAnalyze system logs and identify potential system or infrastructure issuesAssist with the deployment and implementation of new technology solutionsSupport system upgrades and ongoing infrastructure improvementsMaintain hardware/software inventory and licensing informationAssist with ordering IT equipment, supplies, and servicesMaintain technical documentation, reports, and operational logsPerform other related IT support duties as requiredWhat We're Looking ForCollege diploma or university degree inComputer Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related disciplineORA combination of relevant education and approximately3+ years of related IT experienceHands-on experience withIT support, systems support, infrastructure, or technical troubleshootingKnowledge ofWindows operating systems and enterprise applicationsExperience withhardware and software troubleshootingWorking knowledge ofActive DirectoryUnderstanding ofLAN/WAN networking and connectivity troubleshootingFamiliarity with servers, networking equipment, workstations, printers, and peripheral devicesUnderstanding of IT security concepts and standard IT support practicesExperience working with aticketing/service desk system ; experience with any established ticketing platform is acceptableStrong troubleshooting and analytical abilitiesStrong customer-service and interpersonal skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills in EnglishAbility to prioritize multiple technical issues in a busy operational environmentSelf-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable learning unfamiliar technologiesRequired - Driver's LicenceCandidates must possess a validClass G driver's licence (Ontario) or Quebec equivalentand be able to provide adriver's abstract issued within the last month .Nice to HaveThe following would be considered assets but arenot mandatory :Experience supporting technology within anairport, transportation, logistics, or other operational environmentExposure toCommon Use Passenger Processing Systems (CUPPS)Exposure toCommon Use Self-Service (CUSS) kiosksExperience supportingpassenger information kiosks, check-in desks, boarding pass printers, baggage tag printers, or similar self-service technologyExperience withbuilding management, operational technology, display, telephony, parking, or security systemsITIL certificationor familiarity with ITIL/IT service management practicesProject coordination or project management experienceBilingualism inEnglish and FrenchSecurity / Clearance RequirementsThe successful candidate must be eligible to complete the requiredbackground screening and security/access clearance processassociated with working in a secure operational environment.Who Will Succeed in This Role?You don't need to come from an airport environment to be successful.We're looking for someone who is technically curious, comfortable working hands-on, and willing to learn specialized systems.
