Shift coverage needed Wednesdays 8:30- 10:30am and Fridays 8:30-10:30amStart Date: ASAPSalary: $31.30 per hourFree YMCA Gym Membership and/or Y@HomeTraining and Professional Development OpportunitiesReduced childcare rates and priority placement for YMCA StaffBe part of a charitable organization that positively impacts the community*Some benefits may vary based on region and employment termsNature & ScopeThe Aquafit Instructor will report to the Fitness Supervisor and work collaboratively with other members of the YMCA team to provide a safe and fun aquatics environment.Major Responsibilities - in this position, you will :Teach aquafit classes in a positive and professional mannerBuild meaningful relationships through positive daily interaction with YMCA members, visitors, and colleaguesPromote philanthropy through the YMCA's annual campaignDevelop lesson plans for various aquafit programsEnsure program design, lay-out, and offerings meet the needs of all participants at various levelsLead program delivery, while ensuring contents meet the appropriate criteria and outlinePerform general administrative duties and record keeping responsibilitiesEnsure the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures and ensuring they are maintained amongst all members and staff,



including all locker rooms and spectator viewing areas.Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including all program areas, common spaces, and washroomsAssist with training new staff/volunteers in procedures and practicesRemain flexible - willing to learn recent skills, alter shiftsAttend staff meetings, planning sessions and training events as requiredMaintain regular attendance, punctuality and be appropriately dressed and well groomedQualifications - you bring :Current Standard First Aid certificate (valid within 2 years)CPR level C and & AED certificate (valid within 1 year)YMCA Aquatic Fitness Certificate, or equivalentAdvanced leadership courses are an assetDemonstrated high level of customer service skillsSuccessful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start dateSuccessful candidates will be required to provide 3 satisfactory referencesAbout YMCA BC:By igniting belonging and championing health equity, YMCA BC strengthens the foundations of community.
