Your unique contribution and talents could help us to create new options and opportunities for the people we support in our communities!POSITION SUMMARY:Under the guidance and support of the Community Inclusion Supervisor and as part of the team, the Community Support Worker will be responsible for providing assistance and support to people with developmental and physical disabilities. This role co-designs and provides creative opportunities that facilitate learning and participation through accessing the community. These opportunities will reflect and respect the personal preferences, goals and choices of each person. Activities will include providing one-to-one and group skill development and independence-building. This could include support for building relationships and creating community connections.SHIFTS:35 hours/week - Primarily Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm,



with the flexibility to work some evening and weekend shiftsLOCATIONS:Port Coquitlam and New Westminster and surrounding communities** Work location and hours of work can change at any time based on program needsQUALIFICATIONS:Diploma in Human Services or equivalent education (e.G. Community Support Worker, Therapeutic Recreation)Experience supporting people with a variety of abilities to access activities that take place in the community or one of the organization's facilitiesExperience providing support to adults with developmental and physical disabilitiesExperience physically assisting people with personal care needs in a respectful and secure mannerExperience in the organization and facilitation of the Person Centered Planning ProcessKnowledge of Positive Behavioral Support techniques, knowledge and experience in skill based trainingKnowledge and ability to use augmentative communication, strong oral and written communication skills including report writing skillsStrong computer skillsAbility to interact effectively with individuals and familiesClass 5 Driver's License, satisfactory driving record; required to use own vehicleClass 4 Unrestricted Driver's License an assetCurrent Community Care First Aid/CPR, NVCI, Food Safe certificatesMaintain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check throughout employmentThis position requires BCGEU union membershipTo learn more about Kinsight:Watch this video: https://vimeo.Com/868421508?share=copyVisit our website: kinsight.Org
