The position is directly accountable to the Operations Manager and indirectly to the Area Maintenance Manager for the effective utilization of shop facilities, equipment/manpower, and the maintenance, efficiency, and safety of buses serviced.Lead a unionized workforce in accordance with the collective agreement and company policiesAssist in all aspects of maintenance and shop facility maintenanceTrain new employees in safe and productive operating proceduresPerform administrative work,



as requiredDisplay professional leadership with fellow employees in support of Company goals and valuesWork in accordance with Company policies/procedures and government regulations – regularly monitory shop staff to ensure complianceStay aware of key cost areas such as warranties and suppliesSchedule sequence of maintenance services and quarterly inspections on buses to optimize balances between operating requirements, downtime of revenue equipment and overall shop productivityRecord and report accident damage to equipment and any/all personal injuriesMaintain a high level of awareness amongst personnel of potential task related hazardsCheck that work orders are accurate and appropriate for work performed; clarify work with dispatch as requiredContinuously monitor effectiveness of bus cleaning & ensure standards are followed and metEnsure that all regulatory requirements are met in the handling of hazardous materialsReport any damaged equipment or shop deficiency in need of correction to Area Maintenance Manager and coordinate repairs or replacement as neededWhat You BringJourneyperson Ticket (Heavy Duty or Automotive)SGI inspection License - considered an assetPrevious leadership or supervisory experience in a fleet, transportation, or heavy equipment environmentExperience handling employee performance concerns, coaching, and conflict resolutionDemonstrated success leading unionized employees considered an assetStrong knowledge of collective agreement administration and labour relations practices considered an assetExperience with maintenance management software and work order systemsStrong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
