About the job Dietary Aide (Niagara Region)We are looking for a Dietary Aide/ Dishwasher to work in a Retirement Home in Niagara Falls, ON. As a valued member of our culinary team you will assist with cleaning serving areas while following established policies, procedures, work systems, and cleaning procedures to meet regulatory requirements.Job Duties:Ensures food is prepared and served in accordance with health and food guidelinesUses all dietary equipment with competenceParticipates in meal presentationWorks cooperatively with the interdisciplinary teamAssists in planning and organizing food preparation to ensure all meals and snacks are served on time, at an appropriate temperature, texture, and quantityCleans cares for, and stores equipment properly in designated areas after each useResponsible for reporting any required repair work or deficiency in the environmentDelivers and serves meals according to resident's assessed needsAssists with dining room clean-upAssists in preparing the food and the environment for all special eventsMust participate on various facility and department committees as requiredUse CQI/Risk Management process to evaluate and ensure follow-upMust actively participate in ongoing educational opportunitiesRequired to promote wellness as a concept of livingParticipates as required in the formulation and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures, goals, and objectivesWorks cooperatively with volunteers and student placements to enhance the scope of the departmentUses supplies and equipment effectively and efficientlyProvides input as required and as per residents likes and dislikes, on menu planning and changesProtects own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safetyFollows all roles and responsibilities for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety ActIs competent in the protected use of chemicals (WHMIS guidelines)What you bring:Successful completion and/or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act required.Current Food Handler`s CertificatePrevious dietary experience preferred in LTC (Long Term Care) Home 0-1 year(s).Must be able to stand for extended periods of timeAbility to read and write English as well as to understand simple verbal and written instructions in English.Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures. Must be able to do moderate to heavy lifting
