The NAM growth strategy requires increased and sustained Applications Engineering support to enable the Commercial team's objectives.GETTING TO KNOW THE POSITIONOne of the strategic orientations that Nexans pursues consists in capturing growth and differentiating its offer by escalading the value chain from the production of cables towards the provision of creative cable systems and services and solutions to better address the current and future needs of our partners and customers.The Jr. Applications Engineer provides Nexans personnel with technical product specifications,



field applications and industry standards information and support. The purpose of the role is to grow Nexans products and services with close interaction with customers.HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACTQuality:Assists customers and sales personnel with technical product and applications inquiriesLeads resolution of field technical problems and customer product issuesProduct management:Continuously renews product and process knowledge by supervising product installations for residential, commercial, industrial and utility applicationsMonitors and feeds back latest technology developments through the use of field reportsMaintains product portfolio, product drivers and product evolution information and trendsAssists product development teamsMarketing technical support:Leads the technical side of marketing projects (solutions, services etc.) from design to market launchingIndustry committee representative for Canadian and United States committees including but not limited to CSA, EEMAC, UL, etc.Responsible for technical content for marketing publications including but not limited to the web, catalogues, brochures and promotional materialPerforms training seminars for customers on product details,



attributes and applications utilizing state of the art processes including web seminars and video equipmentAssists department with market research on competitors, products, processes, competing technologies, etc.You will be expected to:Project management – 10%:Supervises projects related to product and packaging innovation, defined within the marketing teamIdentifies and prioritizes potential new innovationsTechnical sales – 50%:Supports launching and promotion of innovationsLeads technical discussions with distributors / contractors / EPCs / installers etc.Active participation and influence in electrical associations, training centers and otherProduct management – 40%:Answers ad-hoc requests on product designs and applicationsActs as internal point of contact for topics related to cable applicationsWHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE ?KEY COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTSA minimum of 5 years electrical systems design or applications experienceExcellent knowledge of Electrical systems through design or applications experienceExcellent interpersonal skills and communication ability with customers, contractors and managementExcellent Energy Cables product and standards knowledgePreferred P.Eng, University or College degree preferredMust be willing and able to travel throughout Canada and USARequests for accommodation due to a disability (which may be visible or invisible, temporary or permanent) can be made at any stage of application and employment.
