Kanata is looking for a full-time Sous Chef to join our culinary team and play a key role in both our restaurant and banquet operations. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys organization and production, but isn’t afraid to jump on the line when the kitchen gets busy.

YOUR ROLE As Sous Chef, you’ll work closely with the Chef while taking the lead on food production for both the restaurant and banquet operations.
Plan, organize and oversee daily food production
Coordinate production according to restaurant and banquet needs
Supervise prep and ensure the kitchen is ready for service
Support the brigade and work on the line when needed
Ensure consistency in taste, presentation and Chez Lionel standards
Monitor product quality, portions and food waste
Assist with inventory, ordering and cost control
Train, support and motivate kitchen team members
Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation and organization




Support the Chef and oversee kitchen operations when required WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR - 3+ years of professional kitchen experience and/or at least 1 year of Sous Chef experience
Solid production, prep and organizational skills
Experience in a busy restaurant environment is a robust asset
Natural leadership and ability to keep a team organized
Comfortable balancing restaurant service and banquet production
Hands-on and willing to work the line when needed
Strong attention to quality, consistency and detail
