Skilled Labourer – Housing Department

Full time position

Sheshegwaning First Nation is seeking a highly motivated, well-organized and versatile person to fill the position of Skilled Labourer within the Housing Department. Under the supervision of the Housing Director, this person will support the work of the Housing Department.

Qualifications
Secondary School graduate plus acceptable related work experience and/or trade certificate in Carpentry, preferred
Experience and skills in multiple types of home repair, maintenance, and renovations work
Experience working safely with power tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of building codes is an asset
Working knowledge and experience in Indigenous culture and community life

Duties and Responsibilities
Complete repairs to Band owned housing units including minor repairs to plumbing and heating/cooling systems as well as carpentry repairs (interior/exterior), as needed




Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair
Complete minor renovation projects, as required, subject to funding
Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, make minor purchases, as required, and communicate with the Housing Director to ensure efficiency.
Ensure proper PPE is always worn, and protected working practices are always followed
Assist in maintaining a clean and protected worksite
Required to move furniture, equipment and supplies, as needed
Other duties, as assigned

Salary Range: as per SFN salary grid
