Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Volunteer Treasurer to join our organization’s leadership team. In this vital role, you will oversee the financial health of the organization by maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring sound fiscal practices. Your expertise will help guide strategic decision-making, promote transparency, and support the organization’s mission through effective financial stewardship. Responsibilities
Makes sure all monies paid to the Society are deposited in a chartered bank, treasury branch or trust company chosen by the Board
Makes sure a detailed account of revenues and expenditures is presented to the Board as requested
Makes sure an audited statement of the financial position of the Society is prepared and presented to the Annual General Meeting
Files the annual return, changes in the directors of the organization, amendments in the bylaws and other incorporating documents with the Corporate Registry
Chairs the Audit Committee of the Board
Is a member of the Executive Committee




Carries out other duties assigned by the Board
Must attend monthly meetings and present financial updates
Must be an active member of the board by participating in special board meetings as well as voting and decision making.

Requirements
Proven experience in corporate finance, accounting, or related financial services roles.
Robust knowledge of bookkeeping, account reconciliation.
Familiarity with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide teams and influence organizational strategy.
Keen eye for detail and accuracy in financial record keeping.
Prior experience or understanding of investment practices is highly desirable.
You must be able to pass a criminal record check and have pertinent references.
