Job DescriptionMANAGER, PEOPLE EXPERIENCE NanaimoThe OpportunityAre you a proactive and progressive Human Resources leader who is passionate about creating exceptional employee experiences and supporting operational success? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join our People Experience team.Reporting to the Director, People Experience, you will play a key role in shaping the employee experience across a diverse and dynamic unionized setting. As a trusted advisor and partner to leaders, you will provide strategic and practical guidance in employee and labour relations, performance and attendance management, employee development, workforce planning, and collective agreement interpretation.This is an opportunity to influence organizational culture, drive meaningful people initiatives, and help build a workplace where employees feel supported, engaged, and empowered to succeed. Working closely with leaders throughout the business, you'll contribute to solutions that strengthen our workforce and support the delivery of safe and reliable service to the communities we serve.ResponsibilitiesDevelops and implements people experience strategies that align with the organizational and operational objectivesOversees the consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and programs across business units, including interpretation of collective agreements and compliance with provincial employment lawsPartners with leadership to identify workforce trends and recommend solutions for engagement, retention, and productivityConducts internal workplace investigations and manages local grievance handling to mitigate organizational riskManages employee relations matters while providing guidance on conflict resolution, performance management, and policy interpretationLeads initiatives to improve onboarding, career development,



and recognition programs to enhance employee experienceProvides oversight on workplace accommodations, leaves of absence and disability management programsUtilizes HRIS and analytics tools to monitor workforce metrics and provide actionable insights to leadershipDrives continuous improvement in HR processes while leveraging technology and best practices to optimize service deliveryAssists in preparation and review of arbitrations and other legal inquiries, participates in coordinating employee separations and severance agreementsWhat you bring to the team?Education/Academic Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related fieldCertified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is considered an assetTraining or certification in labour relations or change management is considered an assetWork Experience Requirements:Minimum 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, including experience as a HR Business Partner and demonstrated experience in a complex unionized environmentStrong knowledge of employment legislation, labour relations practices and HR best practices with transportation or service industriesFamiliarity with HRIS platforms, workforce analytics and scheduling systems commonly used in large-scale operationsCompetency Requirement:Strategic thinking with the ability to translate organizational goals into actionable HR initiativesStrong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships across all levels of the organization,



with proven ability to inspire trust and influence decision-makingAnalytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex workforce challengesProficiency in HR technology systems and data-driven decision-makingLeadership and coaching skills to guide teams and influence stakeholders effectivelyString facilitation and training skills for presenting to diverse groupsJoin us!Application deadline: October 9, 2026.Additional informationThis is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $98,500 to $123,100 per annum.
