This role plays a key part in ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timely processing of donations, while supporting internal controls, process improvements, and financial operations across the organization. You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for Islamic Relief Canada's finances.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDonation Revenue ManagementRecord and reconcile donation revenues accurately and within established service-level timelinesManage the end-to-end donation revenue cycle, ensuring donations are accurately categorized, recorded, reconciled, and reportedPerform daily and monthly reconciliations between fundraising platforms, payment processors, banking records, and the accounting systemSupport the preparation, reconciliation,



and review of charitable tax receipting processes to ensure compliance with CRA requirementsWork collaboratively within the finance team and across departments to support organizational objectivesInvestigate and resolve donation discrepancies in collaboration with the Fundraising, Donor Care, Technology, and other teamsHandle sensitive information in a confidential mannerFinancial Data AccuracyMaintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data in the organization's ERP systemParticipate in month-end and year-end close activitiesPrepare and post journal entriesSupport audit readiness by maintaining complete and organized supporting documentationSupport department leaders by analyzing trends, variances, and exceptions in donation revenue and financial dataDevelop ad hoc financial analyses to support decision-makingSystems and Process ImprovementIdentify and implement opportunities for automation and process improvements to enhance efficiency and data accuracyPrepare, maintain, and update documentation and training materials (SOPs) for financial processes and proceduresAssist with system testing, implementation, and user acceptance testing (UAT) for enhancements to systems as neededCompliance & Internal ControlsEnsure compliance with CRA charity regulationsSupport the development, implementation, and monitoring of financial and operational controlsAssist with periodic reviews of revenue-related processes to identify risks and control gapsEnsure compliance with established policies, procedures, and delegated authoritiesAssist with the preparation of supporting documentation and participation in internal audit, external audit, and compliance review activitiesExperienceQualifications & CompetenciesBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education,



training and experience1-3 years of relevant accounting/finance experienceIntermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applicationsExperience preparing reconciliations, journal entries, working papers, and financial analysesPreferred QualificationsExperience working with donor management systems, CRM platforms, fundraising software, or ERP/accounting systems considered an asset.Pursuing a CPA designation or CPA student is considered an assetExperience in a charitable, nonprofit, or humanitarian organization is an assetKnowledge of ASNPO and CRA charity reporting requirements is an assetKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesHighly detail-orientedExcellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across the organizationStrong numerical aptitude and analytical skillsStrong problem-solving and critical thinking skillsUnderstanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practicesWell-organized, and able to work well in a team environmentAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentHybrid Work PolicyIRC has a hybrid model where in-office requirements are based on distance from our Burlington headquarters or a regional office (Surrey, Edmonton, Calgary and Ottawa).
