About the Role

We are seeking an Intermediate or Senior Civil/Structural Design Technician with strong EPCM experience in oil & gas facility projects. You will support multi‑discipline engineering teams by producing high‑quality civil and structural design deliverables using major 3D plant design platforms. This role requires solid technical capability, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced project environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Produce CAD layouts and detailed design drawings for:
- Site grading, drainage, and plant roads
- Reinforced concrete foundations/Piling
- Structural steel (pipe racks, platforms, equipment supports)
- Architectural building components
- Independently develop complete civil/structural models and drawings from engineering sketches, design criteria, and project standards, ensuring accuracy and constructability prior to engineering review.
- Develop and compile Construction Work Packages (CWPs) and IFC deliverables.
- Support 3D model coordination with mechanical, piping, electrical, and other disciplines.
- Apply redlines, perform as‑built updates, and maintain drawing revision control.
- Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and vendor drawings.
- Participate in occasional site visits for field verification (asset).

Qualifications

- Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
- ASET certification is an asset.




- Intermediate Level: 5–9 years of civil/structural drafting and 3D modelling experience.
- Senior Level: 10+ years with proven leadership and mentoring capability.
- EPCM experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial facilities is required.
- Proficiency with one or more of the following (please specify in your application):
- AVEVA E3D / PDMS
- SmartPlant 3D
- AutoCAD Plant 3D
- Civil 3D
- Bentley ProStructures / Advance Steel
- Understanding of Canadian codes and standards (CSA S16, CSA A23.3, Alberta Building Code) is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and vendor data.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi‑discipline EPCM team.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Additional Requirements for Senior Designers

- Lead and mentor junior/intermediate designers.
- Manage design hours, schedules, and deliverables in alignment with the Lead Engineer.
- Provide constructability input and support engineering decision‑making.
- Coordinate effectively with project managers, engineers, and construction teams.
