Hiring Unit Department of Microbiology & Immunology Course Title Parasitology Course Code MIMM 413 Estimated Number of Positions 5 Total Hours of Work per Term 120 Position Summary Meeting with the course coordinators and technicians once a week to discuss lab set up and protocols prior to each lab. Help to set up labs before students arrive and put away equipment after the lab session. Supervise the students during weekly lab sessions including answering student questions about the lab, how to use lab equipment, work safely, calibrate equipment including microscopes, show students parasite specimens under the microscope. Show students how to interpret laboratory results. Correct lab reports and communicate with students by email or in person to answer questions. Help set up and correct lab exam at end of semester. Qualifications Required Have general knowledge of Immunology & Microbiology and key research methods including PCR, ELISA, Western blotting and use of light microscopes. Must have knowledge of parasitology and preferably have previously taken MIMM 413. Language Requirements (if relevant) Effective communication skills in English are essential. An effective communication skill in French is desirable.
