We are currently seeking Licensed Practical Nurses for a casual position.What You'll Be DoingThe Licensed Practical Nurse provides direct health care services to patients presenting with a wide variety of complex addictions and mental health issues. Working within scope of practice, you will perform physical, addiction, and mental status assessments; refer patients to the physician for further examination; and administer prescribed treatments and medications. You will observe, monitor, evaluate, and document patient progress, symptoms, and behavioural changes, and perform a variety of health care interventions. You'll also provide counselling, education, and support using a motivational and health promotion approach and work collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary team, the patient, the family, and the community.Implement the principles and practices of a patient and family centered recovery model in mental health and addictions treatmentConduct comprehensive mental health and addiction risk assessments, formulate treatment and discharge plans, and provide crisis interventionPerform detox assessmentsCommunicate and collaborate with patients and families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, self-care, and prognosisAssess patients daily for care needs and follow up; consult with doctors and clinical team members about patient careCollaborate with patients and other health professionals to identify and assess trends and patterns that have implications for patients, families, and communitiesAnalyze and synthesize all available information for the development of an individualized treatment plan in collaboration with other care providers, patients,



and familiesIdentify and respond appropriately to legal and ethical issues that may arise in patient care.Conduct day-to-day care delivery to patients and administer medicationsProvide nursing intervention as required and determine when health care needs to be escalated to other health professionalsCoordinate referrals to appropriate health resources. Liaise with health practitioners and agencies for the planning and implementation of health careAdvocate for the patientPerform appropriate clinical monitoringEvaluate efficacy of care and treatment plans and adjust as necessaryIntervene in emergencies, crises, or violent situations, according to the needs of the patient and familyDocument assessments and patient progress, keep records current and complete documentation on timeMentor and act as a preceptor for students as requiredWhat We Are Looking ForLicensed Practical Nurse DiplomaCurrent full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP)Completion of Non-violent Crisis Intervention course preferredCurrent First Aid/CPR Certification for health care providers (Level 1 or greater)Demonstrated ability to deal with a variety of situations and responsibilities requiring initiative, creativity,
