Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and agile Events Director to lead the planning, production, and execution of experiential activations, retail moments, and brand events across North America and international key markets. In this agency environment, you will bridge creative vision with operational rigor—managing complex event lifecycles, driving vendor partnerships, leading client relationships, and ensuring every activation is executed flawlessly on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:
Event Production & Operations Management
- Full Lifecycle Oversight: Direct end-to-end event operations, including venue sourcing, permitting, site plans, production timelines, staffing, and technical requirements.
- Vendor & Partner Management: Leverage and expand a network of top-tier suppliers, fabricators, staffing agencies, and venue contacts across key markets.
- On-Site Execution: Lead site setups, run-of-shows, and live event management maintaining high production standards, safety compliance, and brand alignment under pressure.
- Operational Frameworks: Implement standardized project management systems, communication protocols, and post-event reporting workflows.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Primary Client Lead: Serve as the main point of contact for clients throughout the event process, leading presentations and approvals with confidence and clarity.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with creative, strategy, and design teams to shape holistic brand moments and translate concepts into feasible physical activations.
- Business Development Support: Assist senior leadership with pitches, proposals, project scoping, and production estimates for prospective clients.
Team Leadership & Resourcing Planning
- Team Supervision: Mentor and direct internal production teams and freelance field staff, fostering collaboration, clear operational direction, and professional growth.
- Capacity & Project Management: Oversee multiple large-scale projects simultaneously with precision, clarity, and strong creative intent.
Budgeting & Performance Reporting
- Financial Control: Create, track, and reconcile detailed project budgets to maximize profitability and account for all production variables.
- Post-Event Debriefs: Lead post-event evaluations and deliver performance reports featuring actionable insights for clients and internal teams.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in event production, experiential marketing, or brand activations, ideally within an agency environment.
- Track Record: Proven success managing large-scale experiential, retail, or brand events across multiple markets.
- Creative & Production Mastery: Deep understanding of creative production processes—from concept development through fabrication to on-site delivery.
- Communication & Leadership: Exceptional leadership, communication, and presentation skills with experience acting as a trusted lead for clients and teams.
- Industry Network: A strong network of vendors, venues, and event partners across North America (with specific depth in Toronto, NYC, LA, and the UK preferred).
- Execution Under Pressure: Ability to thrive under pressure, balancing creative ambition with strict operational rigor and budget discipline.
- Flexibility & Travel: Willingness to travel to support site visits, client meetings, and multi-market activation setups, working flexible hours (including evenings and weekends) during live production phases.
- Asset: Familiarity with AI integration and workflow automation platforms to reduce manual work and drive efficiency.
