The Position

The RN/RPN provides direct nursing care and professional support to participants in the qathet Complex Care Housing program. The role contributes to participant stability and recovery by assessing health needs, delivering trauma-informed interventions, supporting harm reduction and relapse prevention, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, families, and community partners to improve housing and health outcomes.

Reports to : Community Health Services Manager

Qualifications

Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Minimum two (2) years of recent experience providing treatment to individuals with mental health and/or substance use concerns.

Experience with trauma-informed and harm reduction practices.

Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle.

Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check clearance.

Clinical assessment & direct care (mental health & substance use)

Withdrawal management & stabilization support

Care planning, prioritization & revision based on client status

Medication administration & monitoring

Observation of symptoms/behaviours; escalation & reporting

Crisis intervention & de-escalation using trauma-informed practice

Harm-reduction, relapse-prevention & recovery-focused education/counselling

Case management & transitions of care (program community services)





Interdisciplinary collaboration; participation in case conferences/treatment planning

Documentation & health information management (charts, stats, reports)

Safety & risk management (violence prevention, infection control, OH&S;)

Quality improvement, team problem-solving & continuous learning

Equipment checks & basic housekeeping to maintain a safe environment

Working Condition and Physical Requirements

Required to occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Work in an environment that requires the ability to plan, organize, and adapt to shifting priorities.
