Maintenance Technician

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL BE DOING:

The Maintenance Technician works directly with the Maintenance & Technical Supervisor to keep manufacturing equipment, tooling, cassettes, and facility assets safe, clean, reliable, and production-ready. The role performs hands‑on inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, setup support, and documentation across manufacturing, lamination, slitting/foil, packaging, and related facility areas.

Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Reliability

Complete scheduled preventative maintenance, inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and repairs under the direction of the Maintenance & Technical Supervisor.

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and process‑related equipment issues within training and authorization.

Respond to equipment breakdowns, identify likely causes, complete approved repairs, and communicate unresolved issues promptly.

Assist external contractors, equipment suppliers, and service technicians during specialized repairs, installations, and commissioning.

Help reduce unplanned downtime by identifying recurring issues and recommending practical improvements.

Manufacturing & Production Support

Provide hands‑on technical support to manufacturing, lamination, slitting/foil, packaging, and material‑handling operations.

Work with production supervisors and operators to complete maintenance with minimal disruption to the production schedule.

Assist with machine setup, changeovers, line adjustments, equipment upgrades, and trial runs.

Confirm equipment is safe,



functional, and ready before returning it to production.

Support operators with basic equipment‑care practices and elevate technical or safety concerns to the supervisor.

Tooling, Cassettes & Spare Parts

Inspect, clean, maintain, repair, and properly store manufacturing cassettes, wheels, fixtures, tools, and setup components.

Prepare the correct cassettes and tooling for scheduled production runs and report damaged or unavailable items.

Assist with tooling refurbishment, replacement, tracking, and preventative maintenance activities.

Organize, label, protect, and count spare parts, maintenance supplies, and consumables.

Notify the supervisor when critical parts reach reorder levels or when inventory records require correction.

Additional Responsibilities
Equipment Care, Housekeeping & Facility Support

Keep the maintenance shop, tools, work areas, equipment, and storage locations clean, organized, and safe.

Perform basic facility and asset maintenance involving utilities, storage systems, material‑handling equipment, and production‑support equipment.

Protect parts, tools, cassettes, and company assets from contamination, loss, or damage.

Participate in equipment‑condition and housekeeping audits and correct assigned deficiencies.

Documentation & Communication

Complete work orders, inspection records, downtime notes, service records, and parts‑usage documentation accurately and on time.

Communicate completed work, outstanding risks, required parts, and follow‑up actions to the Maintenance & Technical Supervisor.

Follow established setup procedures, work instructions, equipment manuals, and manufacturer guidelines.

Contribute practical observations to root‑cause reviews and continuous‑improvement activities.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Perform all work in accordance with company safety policies and approved safe‑work procedures.

Follow Lockout/Tagout requirements and never bypass equipment guards or safety devices.

Use required personal protective equipment and maintain safe control of tools, parts, and work areas.

Report hazards, near misses, damaged equipment, and unsafe conditions immediately.

Participate in safety inspections, incident follow‑up,



and corrective actions as assigned.

Qualifications

Technical training or apprenticeship exposure in industrial maintenance, millwright, industrial mechanic, electrician, mechanical technology, or a related field is preferred.

Previous hands‑on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is preferred.

Practical mechanical aptitude and the ability to use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and basic diagnostic equipment safely.

Working knowledge of mechanical systems and exposure to electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Ability to read equipment manuals, diagrams, work instructions, and maintenance schedules.

Basic computer and documentation skills for work orders, records, and parts tracking.

Strong organization, problem‑solving, communication, and follow‑through.

Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while knowing when to stop and elevate.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Work is primarily performed in an active manufacturing environment around operating machinery, noise, dust, oils, and production materials.

Requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, and working in varied positions while following safe‑work procedures.

Must be able to safely lift and handle tools, parts, and maintenance materials appropriate to the task, using approved lifting assistance when required.

May require shift flexibility, overtime, or after‑hours response based on operational needs.

Effective teamwork and communication with the Maintenance & Technical Supervisor and production teams.

Overall Purpose
This is a hands‑on maintenance role that supports the Maintenance & Technical Supervisor in delivering reliable equipment, production‑ready tooling, timely repairs, accurate maintenance records, organized spare parts, and a safe, clean manufacturing environment. The technician is responsible for completing assigned work thoroughly, communicating issues early, and helping prevent downtime through consistent equipment care.
