Intent of the process A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process and may be used to staff identical or similar positions with varying tenures, security clearance requirements, work locations, or language requirements within Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC).
You need (essential for the job) Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a master’s degree in library science or in library and information science; or graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a bachelor’s degree in library science or in library and information science for which another bachelor’s degree was a prerequisite.
Applied / assessed at a later date Knowledge
Knowledge of the theories, principles, trends or standards of library science and information management.
Knowledge of the principles of cataloguing, classification, or resource description, like the application of recognized standards, tools, and classification systems (e.g. AACR2, RDA, MARC, Government of Canada Classification,
Library of Congress Classification, Dewey Decimal Classification).
Knowledge of subject analysis or indexing practices, like the application of controlled vocabularies, descriptors, standardized subject headings, and recognized thesauri, to accurately describe the subject content of publications.
Language requirements (essential for the job) May be applied / assessed at a later date
Experience or training in cataloguing of government documents.
Experience working in a library context with Government of Canada publications.
Experience with Microsoft Suite (including SharePoint, Excel, etc.).
Experience supervising staff, including day-to-day direction and performance management.
Experience in providing recommendations to management on library and information management issues.
Note: Experience is defined according to the complexity and diversity of work experience of the candidate. Management refers to supervisor or higher level.

Public Services and Procurement Canada is committed to establishing and maintaining a representative workforce. This organizational need may be identified as part of the appointment decision.
