Health and Safety Advisor

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to support industrial operations in Prince George. The successful candidate will bring at least five years of health and safety experience within a midstream or refinery environment, including direct involvement in shutdowns, turnarounds, or outages.

This is a site-focused position requiring a confident safety professional who can work effectively with operations, construction teams, contractors, and leadership. Candidates must be based in or local to the Prince George area.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide field-level health and safety support during regular operations, maintenance activities, shutdowns, turnarounds, and outages.
- Promote compliance with company policies, safe-work procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, observations, and safety audits.
- Participate in job planning, toolbox meetings, pre-job discussions, and contractor orientations.
- Review safe-work permits, FLHAs, JSAs, and other supporting safety documentation.
- Identify unsafe conditions and behaviours and work collaboratively with site personnel to implement corrective actions.
- Support incident reporting, investigations, root-cause analysis, and follow-up actions.
- Monitor contractor compliance and provide coaching to employees, supervisors, and contractors.
- Track safety observations, incidents, corrective actions, and performance indicators.




- Assist with emergency-response planning and site preparedness.
- Support continuous improvement of health and safety programs, procedures, and practices.
- Maintain a visible field presence and build positive working relationships across the site.

Required Qualifications

- At least five years of progressive health and safety experience.
- Direct experience within a midstream or refinery environment.
- Experience supporting shutdowns, turnarounds, or outages.
- Strong knowledge of industrial safe-work practices, hazard identification, permitting, and contractor safety.
- Experience conducting inspections, audits, incident investigations, and corrective-action follow-up.
- Ability to interpret and apply occupational health and safety legislation and site requirements.
- Strong communication, coaching, documentation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a rapid-paced, safety-sensitive operating environment.
- Must be local to Prince George or the surrounding area.

Preferred Qualifications

- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is preferred.
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification will also be considered.
- Post-secondary education in occupational health and safety or a related discipline.
- Additional certifications related to industrial safety, emergency response, incident investigation, or auditing.
