Stoney Education Authority is seeking a caring, adaptable, and relationship-focused teacher to join our school team.

We currently have flexibility in the assignment and are open to hiring the right candidate for either a Grade 6 classroom or a Grade 6/7 split, depending on the successful candidate’s experience, strengths, and teaching interests.

This is an opportunity to work with small class sizes of approximately 20 students or fewer, alongside a strong team of educational and specialized supports.

Each Junior High classroom is supported by an Educational Assistant, and teachers also have access to interdisciplinary supports including:

- Occupational Therapy
- Psychology
- Behaviour specialists
- Speech and Language services
- School administration and SEA student-support resources

We are looking for someone who values strong relationships with students, enjoys working collaboratively, and is interested in supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will:

- Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned with the Alberta curriculum
- Teach either a Grade 6 classroom or Grade 6/7 split assignment
- Develop strong, respectful relationships with students
- Differentiate instruction to respond to a range of learning needs
- Work collaboratively with Educational Assistants and specialized support professionals
- Assess student learning and provide meaningful feedback
- Maintain clear communication with families, colleagues, and school administration
- Support positive classroom culture, student well-being, and attendance
- Participate in school activities, professional learning, and team-oriented planning




- Incorporate culturally responsive and land-based learning opportunities where appropriate
- Demonstrate respect for Stoney Nakoda culture, language, community, and ways of knowing

What We’re Looking For

Candidates should have

- A Bachelor of Education or equivalent recognized teaching qualification
- Eligibility for Alberta teacher certification
- Strong classroom-management and relationship-building skills
- An inclusive and student-centred approach to teaching
- Ability to work collaboratively with Educational Assistants and multidisciplinary supports
- Flexibility and willingness to respond to individual student needs

Experience teaching upper elementary or Junior High students is an asset, but we welcome applications from teachers at different stages of their careers.

Experience working in First Nations, Indigenous, rural, or community-based education settings is considered an asset.
