The Underwriter will adjudicate mortgage applications by assessing prospective clients. Assessing risk and ensuring all applications adhere to both quality and service standards remains the overarching focus for this role.Key responsibilities:Make prudent credit decisions on complex mortgage filesReceive, review, analyze and verify mortgage applications for completeness, accuracy, suitability and riskAdhere to applicable compliance obligationsReview, prepare and make considered recommendationsManage high work volumes to meet tight time lines with high-quality, due-diligence standards.Conducted comprehensive loan application reviews, assessing borrower information, financial documents, and credit historyRequirements:3-4 years of retail mortgage underwriting experienceExperience in reviewing and evaluating documents (income, down-payment, offers, etc)Positive understanding of risk mitigationExperience in a-lendingStrong understanding of mortgage documentation, credit analysis, and risk assessmentProficiency in Microsoft Word and ExcelHolds or is willing to obtain an active Mortgage Agent licenseDetail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working under deadlinesStrong communication skills with a client-service mindset
