Psychiatric Emergency Supports (PES) is seeking a Mental Health Aide (MHA) to join our dynamic team within the Emergency Department at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. Working alongside nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary team, the MHA provides direct support to patients experiencing acute mental health and/or substance use concerns. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced and unpredictable workplace and will demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and de-escalation skills.

Responsibilities include supporting patient safety and observation, assisting with activities of daily living and comfort measures, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, and providing compassionate, respectful, patient-centred care.

Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health, addictions, behavioural concerns, or crisis is considered an asset.

Description: As a Mental Health Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a welcoming and safe care environment. You will assist in the provision of direct patient/client care as delegated in a person-centered, recovery oriented and safe manner.

In this position, you will assist and / or promote independence to patients/clients in completing activities of daily living as well as assisting other health professionals with providing treatments and observing and reporting relevant patient/client information to professional staff.



You will assist new patients/clients and families with orientation, and assist in the general support of the work area.
