NVIT anticipates a need for Term Instructors within the Open Certificate for Community Education in Bella Coola, BC and invites applications from qualified candidates. This will be a sessional term opportunity anticipated to begin September 2026, and end May 2027, course offerings are subject to sufficient student enrolment. Applicants should indicate which courses they are interested in and qualified to teach.

Qualifications

- Possess a master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience in classroom teaching and learning practices with Indigenous adult learners.
- Robust connections and roots within Indigenous communities.
- Excellent teaching and human relations skills – faculty members are expected to contribute positively to the life of the school and community.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures.
- Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing
- Understanding of Canada’s colonial history and the devastating impacts on Indigenous peoples and Indigenous ways of being and knowing.
- Practice from a holistic, culturally safe and trauma-informed lens.
- Knowledge of and appreciation for Indigenous languages and cultures, and Indigenous lived experiences.
- Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships to achieve outcomes in the best interest of students and NVIT.
- A demonstrated commitment to quality service to students and the public.
