Rayes Auto Repair is a modern, fully equipped approximately 6,300 sq. ft. collision and mechanical repair facility located in Oakville, Ontario. Our facility features a heated downdraft spray booth, frame equipment, multiple lifts, and professional collision repair equipment.

We specialize in insurance collision repairs, structural repairs, vehicle rebuilding, body work, and complete automotive refinishing.

As our shop continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Automotive Painter / Prepper who can produce high-quality work efficiently and consistently.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced automotive refinishing professional who is comfortable handling the complete preparation and painting process.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with body filler finishing, sanding, priming, blocking, masking, color preparation, basecoat and clearcoat application, blending, and final refinishing.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who understands collision repair workflow, takes pride in their finish quality, and can work efficiently in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform body filler application and finishing
- Sand and block repaired panels to achieve proper contour and finish
- Feather-edge repair areas and prepare panels for primer
- Apply and finish primer as required
- Perform final surface preparation before refinishing
- Properly mask vehicles, panels, openings, and adjacent areas
- Clean and prepare surfaces before paint application
- Mix and prepare automotive paint materials according to manufacturer specifications
- Apply basecoat and clearcoat
- Perform panel and spot blending when required
- Complete full-panel and multi-panel refinishing
- Identify and correct minor paint defects
- Work closely with body technicians and production staff to maintain workflow
- Maintain a clean paint and preparation environment




- Keep the spray booth and work areas organized
- Follow manufacturer procedures and workplace safety requirements
- Maintain consistent quality while meeting production deadlines

Qualifications & Requirements

- 3+ years of professional automotive painting/preparation experience preferred
- Strong experience with automotive body filler and surface preparation
- Robust sanding, blocking, priming, and masking skills
- Professional automotive spray-painting experience
- Experience with modern basecoat/clearcoat refinishing systems
- Ability to perform blends and achieve consistent finishes
- Ability to identify preparation or paint defects before vehicle delivery
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently without sacrificing quality
- Reliable and able to work independently
- Experience working in a collision repair production environment preferred
- Ontario 310B licence is an asset but not required
- Valid Ontario driver's licence preferred

Compensation & Benefits

- $60,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience and skill level
